A Rising Stem Gate Valve (OS&Y – Outside Screw & Yoke) is a full-port, flanged gate valve designed to completely open or shut off fluid flow. As the valve opens, the stem rises above the bonnet, providing a clear visual indication of whether the valve is open or closed. The full-port design allows unrestricted flow with minimal pressure loss.

Working Principle

Turning the handwheel or actuator moves the stem vertically. As the stem rises, the gate opens completely, allowing unrestricted flow. Lowering the stem closes the gate tightly against the seat, completely stopping the flow.
